Jeremy Corbyn says he is to take legal action against Nigel Farage over a statement made on his GB News show.

During a segment of his show on 28 February, Mr Farage accused the former Labour leader of subscribing to an antisemitic conspiracy theory.

Mr Corbyn called the comments “defamatory” and said he could not “let these disgusting and malicious lies go unchallenged”.

On Twitter Mr Farage stood by his accusation.

As well as being a GB News host, Mr Farage is the founder and honorary president of the political party Reform UK.

On social media Mr Corbyn said: “I have asked my lawyers to take the first steps in commencing legal proceedings against Nigel Farage, following a highly defamatory statement about me.”

The 74-year-old is the independent MP for Islington North – a seat he has held since 1983.
